# Enable Password

How to Unlock Your Blackberry

Unlock codes are particular to each BlackBerry. They cannot be used from one BB to the next. Do not purchase your unlock code from a friend who has one and says the code was for his BB.
Unlock codes can take anywhere from 4 hours to 10 days to obtain. Some BlackBerrys simply can't be unlocked for various reasons: The IMEI number cannot be found in the RIM database, or the device was a pre-release, not-to-be-sold device.

Steps


1-Call your carrier.

2-Ask for the MEP code.

3-Give them your IMEI number.

4-The IMEI code is also located under the battery

5-To get your IMEI number, type this on your phone, *#06#, and it should pop up.

6-Once you get your MEP code, turn off your wireless radio on your phone.

7-Go to SETTING or OPTIONS.

8-Then go to ADVANCE OPTIONS.

9-Then go to SIM CARD

10-Type "MEPD" on your phone.

11-You should see "Network as Active"

12-Hold SHIFT + type "MEPE" or "MEP2"

13-You should see "Network as Disabled"

14-You are now the proud owner of an unlocked Blackberry


Instructions By Model

• Blackberry Storm1 and Storm2 (9500, 9520, 9530, 9550) Unlock Code Entry Instructions: Turn off all of the wireless connections (manage connections - turn all connections off). Go to the Options icon on the device. Select Advanced Options. Select SIM Card. Hit the Menu key to select Show Keyboard. Enter mepd (you will not be able to see the typed info)(enter just the mepd, no spaces, etc.). Enter the letters: mep2. Now it will say enter network mep code. Enter the code that we gave you, usually about 16 digits. Your Storm is now unlocked.
• Blackberry 9000 / 9700 / 8900 / 88xx / 83xx Curve Unlock Code Entry Instructions: How to Enter Unlock Codes on BlackBerry 8800 8300 Curve: Go to settings menu => and then Options. Select Advanced options => and then Sim card. Type MEPD using your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD). Type MEP then [ALT BUTTON] then 2 on your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD). You should be presented with a prompt "Enter Network MEP Code". Type in the unlock code and press in the track wheel / jog dial to confirm. Your phone is now unlocked
• Blackberry 8100 / 8200 Unlock Code Entry Instructions: Insert SIM into device. Power phone on and Turn off the radio (Turn Wireless Off option) VERY IMPORTANT. Select "Options" THEN SELECT ADVANCED OPTIONS .Scroll down and select "SIM Card". Type "MEPPD" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen). Type "MEPP then [ALT BUTTON] then 2" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen). Enter the Unlock Code. Press enter. Reboot device. Device is now unlocked.
• Blackberry 8700 Unlock Code Entry Instructions: Go to settings. Go to options. Go to advanced options. Go to sim card. Type MEPD (not case sensitive) (you will not see text appear on screen while typing). Does it say Network active? If so your phone is locked. Hold the ALT Key while typing in MEPE (not case sensitive, and you will not see text appear on screen while typing). It will say "Enter Network MEP Code, then you type in the unlock code, press in the jog dial to confirm. Your phone is now unlocked
• BlackBerry 6xxx 7xxx: ie 6230, 7100, 7290 etc. Unlock Code Instructions: Select Options menu on BB. Select SIM CARD menu. To be able to see this you have to type this on the keypad on phone : (TEXT WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE SCREEN until you enter the unlock code). Type 'MEPD' for all models, except 7100 in which case in case use 'MEPPD'. Usually you should see "active" NET lock. In order to disable this lock, type 'MEP2' respectively ('MEPP2' if phone is 7100). The BB will ask for a code. NOTE: You must use the "alt" or "shift" key to enable numbers so example would be: m-e-p-"alt key"-2 Now you should see the place to enter your net unlock code.(if not, you didn't type in mep2 or mepp2 properly.). Here you must enter the "NET Unlock Code" that you have.

How to Free Up Memory on your BlackBerry Smartphone

First off, you want to be sure you have a memory card for your device.  One of the most important accessories you can buy – a memory card is priceless.  It gives you loads of room to store all those ringtones, videos and MP3s that would otherwise eat up your device memory.  If you don’t have a memory card, check out the wide selection in the ShopCrackberry.com store.

The overall and most obvious way to free up memory is to delete any applications on your device that you do not use.  To do this, from your BlackBerry home screen press the Menu key, then go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications

• Select the unused app and press the Menu key.  Then select Delete.
• Reboot the device.
• If you choose to delete anything, your device will restart and yield a higher File Free.

The next few things we can do to start freeing up memory are fairly simple as well:
Enable Content Compression: Go to Options > Security and enabled Content Compression, this will free up some space.
Set Keep Appointments to 15 Days: This won’t make a major difference but will definitely free up some space.
Delete the “Help” Application: Once you get the hang of your BlackBerry you don’t really need this app. Go to Options --> Applications, select Help and delete it.
Delete the Sample Video: Go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications.  Highlight BlackBerry Sample Video, press Menu and Delete.
Delete the Unused Languages: You will have an option to remove them from the Application Loader screen.
Delete BrickBreaker: Why you ask?  Well if you never seem to play it then it just takes up space – so lose it.
Delete Pictures: Delete any unwanted images or move them to your memory card.
Clean Up Browser Cookies and Cache: Start the mobile browser.  Press the Menu key and select Options > Cache Operations.  Clear History & Clear Cookies.

Reduce Allocated Media Memory: Start the Media App.  Press the Menu key.  Change the Device Memory Limit to 12mb.

Change Save Time for Messages:  Click the Messages icon.  Press the Menu key and select Options.  Select General Options.  Scroll to Keep Messages and lower the value.

Change Call Log Options: Click the Phone icon.  Press the Menu key.  Select Options > Call Logging.  Change to None (or Missed Calls if you prefer).
Remove Unused Apps: You can also remove any unused apps such as Tasks, Memo, BlackBerry Messenger etc. to free up space.  All of the standard apps can be removed from the Application Loader in the Desktop Manger.
Deleting Old Messages: Deleting SMS messages and emails will save space and reduce lag as well.  I tend to delete all my previous SMS messages every morning.
Limit Your Themes: Everyone wants to have a good choice of themes, but having only 1 or 2 at a time on your device will save lots of space. 

Removing Default Items and Modules
Now we can get a bit more technical and remove some of the other features that will save even more space.  To start, you will need to have your current OS installed on your PC.  If you don’t have it you can usually download it here: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites and install it to your PC.  After it is installed, plug in your BB and open Desktop Manager.  Do a complete backup of your device (from the Backup/Restore menu).  When the backup is complete, close the Desktop Manager and unplug your BB.  Delete the vendor.xml file from your PC (should be located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader).  This file is really unnecessary as it only tells your device specifics about your carrier and OS, so we can just trash it.
There are certain items that can be removed to save space such as Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), Push to Talk (PTT) on some AT&T Devices, themes etc.  Decide what you don’t use and we can remove them from the device.  Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\xxx\Java on your PC (where xxx is the installed OS version).  From here we can do the following:
Remove Wallpaper:

net_rim_bb_media_320x240_b.COD
or

net_rim_bb_media_240 x 260_b.COD
These two files will most likely have your device model in them but it is essentially what the file name will appear as.

(The best way to handle them is to move them to a separate directory - Create a new directory labeled "Removed”)
Select the COD file and move it to the “Removed” folder.
This will remove all of the pre-installed wall paper, leaving you with a blank background.
Remove Default Themes:
Themes are supplied by BlackBerry and the carrier. Each device is carrier branded during manufacture; the branding controls the loading of specific theme components.
In this case, T-Mobile themes are identified by "100".  Other carriers have similar numbers assigned. You can ignore themes with non matching numbers; they will be skipped in the process.

Both of the above are needed for normal device operation. You can safely remove the following:

Removing these is optional, it will save about 700 Kb.
Remove Push To Talk:
If you are not using it (your device may not even have it), remove these files:

net_rim_bb_phone_ptt_app
Remove Voice Activated Dialing:
Move all files prefaced with net_rim_vad_ to the Removed folder.

Remove Password Keeper:
Move all files prefaced with net_rim_bb_passwordkeeper_resource_ to the Removed folder.

Connect your device to your PC and run the Application Loader to complete the changes. 
If there are other applications you want to remove, verify which modules are used with by going to Options > Advanced Options.

Choose an application, press the Menu key and select View Properties. All modules are that make up the application are listed.*

*Keep in mind, other applications may share modules. Be prepared to restore some of them if you run into problems (that’s why we did a backup first).

After these procedures you may also find that Desktop Manager will not recognize your device.  If this happens, go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager on your PC and delete you Blackberry Device.  Then reconnect it and it should be accepted by the Desktop Manager.

How do I open an attachment?

When an email arrives with an attachment, you will see within the email message:
the name of the attachment, the size of the attachment, and the type of attachment

1. To open the attachment, click on the track wheel from within the message and choose Open Attachment from the menu that appears.
2. You will then have the choice to open the Full content or a Table of Contents view of the attachment, which shows an outline of the contents of the file. Choose your preferred option, and click on the track wheel to open. The attachment will then be rendered on the screen.
3. There is no additional software to download to make this work – it’s just a part of the BlackBerry solution.

How do you bookmark favorite Web sites on the BlackBerry Browser?

It’s as easy to bookmark your favorite Web sites on the BlackBerry browser as it is in a normal desktop browser.

1. Open the BlackBerry Internet Browser.
2. Click on the track wheel and select Go To from the menu that appears.
3. Enter the desired URL and click on OK to continue.
4. Once you have reached the URL, click on the track wheel and select Add Bookmark from the menu that appears.
5. Choose a Name for the bookmark and click Add.

How many email accounts can I have?

Up to ten email addresses can be supported. Support is not provided for non-UNCG email accounts by UNCG. If your Blackberry device becomes corrupted due to non-UNCG email accounts and other non-supported applications and services, contact 6-TECH who will arrange to have your device “wiped” to a clean configuration.

How do I add other email (POP) accounts to my BlackBerry?

Please note that the integration and configuration of non-UNCG email accounts is not a supported service. Visit the Blackberry support pages as well as the technical support resources of your non-UNCG email account provider.


This example uses GMAIL:

• Go to the http://(Provider).blackberry.com
• Click on Create New account.
• Type in your device PIN and ESN.  You can find both of these by going into Options–>Status on the Handheld device.
• Follow the rest of the setup choices to finish setting up your BlackBerry Web Account.  This will create an email account and address in the format of dcassese@maxis.blackberry.com       (where dcassese is the username you used when setting up the account).
• Once you have your account, look for Add other email accounts. Then simply add your email address and login information.

How to convert .jpg.rem to JPG?

because the new BB have been saving everything as JPG.REM. and now I cant see them from my pc only from my bb.
Question is: how can I convert the .jpg.rem to JPG?
